Dutch Government Plans to Prevent ASML's Partial Departure

Confidential Plan Unveiled by De Telegraaf

Political Stakes and Economic Implications

The caretaker Dutch government is reportedly working behind closed doors on a plan to prevent tech giant ASML from partially relocating out of the Netherlands, according to a report by De Telegraaf.

Sources have told the newspaper that the government aims to unveil the plan on Thursday, codenamed "Operation Beethoven." The objective is to deter ASML from expanding its operations abroad instead of within the country.

ASML has previously stated its intention to leave the Netherlands if it cannot continue to grow there. The government's plan is seen as an attempt to address concerns about the company's future in the country and the potential economic impact of its departure.

ASML, the world's leading semiconductor equipment manufacturer, has faced export restrictions on its advanced machines due to political tensions between the United States and China. The company has also recently reported a partial revocation of a permit to supply its most advanced machines in 2023.
