Ever wondered why the clocks on cruise ships seem to magically change as soon as you step on board? It's all about time zones, and it can be a bit confusing if you're not prepared.
Most cruise ships follow the time zone of the port they are currently in. So, if your ship is departing from Miami, it will be on Eastern Time. But once you sail out into international waters, the ship may switch to a different time zone, such as Coordinated Universal Time (UTC).

Board On Time: Cruise Ship Boarding Process
Another important thing to keep in mind is that cruise ships have strict boarding times. You'll need to arrive at the terminal at least four hours before the scheduled departure time in order to check in, go through security, and board the ship.
If you arrive too early, you'll be stuck sitting in the terminal until it's your turn to board. And if you arrive too late, you may miss the ship's departure altogether.
So, it's important to plan ahead and give yourself plenty of time to get to the terminal and board the ship.
