Bath Rugby Ignoring ‘Favourites’ Tag Heading Into The New Gallagher Premiership Season

Bath Rugby are refusing to get carried away despite being installed as one of the favourites for the new Gallagher Premiership season following their impressive summer recruitment drive.

The Recreation Ground outfit have added the likes of Wales international Taulupe Faletau, South African World Cup winner Deon Carstens and England Under-20s prop Will Stuart to their squad and are widely expected to challenge for silverware this season.

However, head coach Neal Hatley is keen to keep his players’ feet on the ground and insists that Bath will not be taking any team for granted in the fiercely competitive Premiership.

“We know that we have a good squad and we have made some excellent signings during the summer, but we are not getting carried away,” said Hatley.

“The Premiership is a very tough league and there are no easy games. We will need to be at our best every week if we want to be successful.

“We are not thinking about being favourites or anything like that. We are just focused on taking it one game at a time and seeing where it takes us.

Bath begin their Premiership campaign at home to Bristol Bears on Friday 9 September.
